Saturday, March 7 Daffodil Festival Festival admission is free. Activities include free concerts & live entertainment, free children’s games and prizes, a raffle and live auction, food booths offering festival treats, and an array of artists, boutiques, jewelers, craftsmen, and service providers on hand to share their talents. Explore UT Family friendly event info: Free. 400 activities across the campus allow visitors to experience the vast world of discovery offered by the University of Texas at Austin. Fun for all ages. Get GT Fit 5K run/walk and kids Born To Run 1K The Georgetown District PTA is committed to making a difference in the level of obesity, sedentary lifestyles and a lack of fitness in our community. To accomplish this, the Georgetown PTA is presenting the Get GT Fit 5K run/walk. The 5K will begin at 9:00am and the kids Born To Run 1K run will start at 10:00am. Registration $10-18. Sunday, March 8 Family Fun Day Family friendly event info: Free, kid friendly event to play and learn about forming a Family Team for the upcoming March for Babies walk. Don't Forget to Wear Your Socks! The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Family friendly event info: A thrilling musical based on C.S. Lewis' enchanting adventure of four children transported to the fabled land of Narnia. Tickets - $12. Thursday, March 12 Lemony Snicket at BookPeople Family friendly event info: you must purchase a copy of The Composer is Dead from BookPeople to attend & receive a wristband for the signing line. One book per person, per wristband. This will be just a signing. The number of books that can be signed is being limited so Mr. Snicket can speak to everyone individually for a respectable amount of time when they're getting their book signed. Wristbands will be handed out starting at 4:30PM. Friday, March 13 - Saturday, March 28 Rodeo Austin Family friendly event info: Fair and carnival attractions, live music, rodeo. Saturday, March 21 One Year Anniversary Open House Event Family friendly event info: Includes drawings for FREE culinary stuff and a drawing for a FREE month of cooking class! Lots of fun culinary activities will entertain your Young Chefs. Special discounts on summer camps are also available at the event. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Turns 40 BookPeople celebrates this very popular caterpillars 40th birtday and invites the public to join in on the fun. Includes book reading, an appearance by special guest, Mike Quinn, a local Monarch butterfly expert (along with some insect friends of his) to explain the caterpillar's life cycle! Features live music, arts & craft fair, games & prizes, historical displays, hamburger cook-off, inflatable play area, face painting, pony rides and so much more. Saturday, April 5 Longhorn Fan Scrimmage and Jamboree The Fan Fest portion of the Spring Jamboree will take place prior to the scrimmage in the north end of the stadium. Free. Saturday, April 25 Red Poppy Festival Family friendly event info: Free. Features Red Poppy Market Place with artisans from across the nation, the Open Car Show, the Safe Place Kids Village (10AM - 5 PM Sat and Sun), the Red Poppy Parade, and for the first time - the Red Poppy Art Tent featuring many of this year’s Red Poppy Artists, live music and more. Kid's entertainer, Joe McDermott, a parade and a 5K are also included on the weekend's schedule of events. Sunday, April 26 Red Poppy Festival Family friendly event info: Free. Tuesday, May 19 Parenting Counts Workshop Family friendly event info: Parenting Counts Workshop, a program developed by the Talaris institute and brought to the Austin Public Library in partnership with KLRU. Explore ways to share the love of reading and develop the foundation for further learning. The workshop is open to parents of children ages 3 to 5 years old and will be taught in English. Limited to 20 participants, so please call to reserve a space now. Parents will receive a free children's book that goes with each theme discussed. The workshop is free and open to the public. Wednesday, May 20 Family friendly event info: Led by Rosalyn Fisher, M.S.OTR. Free. For children from 9 - 36 months of age and their parent/caregiver. This is an hour of unstructured play, sensory play, singing, and a sharing time for parents. Parent remains with child for interactive play. The Lee Mannix Center for Canine Behavior has designed a special class for expectant and new parents and others who want to better understand their pet's view of young family members. The lecture covers information including how a dog views a child from infancy through the teen years, why behaviors may arise, how to prepare your dog for the new arrival, how to introduce baby to your dog, and more.
