KidzAustin eNewz - January 2009 4Businessez

Happy New Year! Welcome to our January edition and thank you for subscribing to our KidzAustin Newsletter! Our goal is to save you time in finding the kid-friendly information you want or need as you need it. For your convenience, if you need to take another look at any edition, you can still find it on KidzAustin.

Resolutionz?
What was your new year's resolution? Cut back on spending? Live a healthier lifestyle? Start planning things sooner? Do more things with the kids? Whatever the answer, it will mean change -- most likely for you AND your kids. We've got a few additions to the site that might be able to help. Check out our latest issue of Psychology of Parenting about "Dealing with Change and Transitions." We've also written a blog filled with suggested resolution assistance ranging from thriftier spending to finding time for Mom and Dad. We're sure you'll find something that will make sticking to your resolution a little easier.

Planz for the Future?
Girl looking thru magnifying glass -- Planz for FutureI know it's just January, but before you know it, we'll be halfway through the year. You may want to start making plans for Summer camps or may need to start thinking about what kind of school you'll be enrolling your child in for the Fall. Surprisingly enough, many summer camps and private and charter schools reach capacity far before their doors open and the children's education begins. If you're interested in checking out school options, many are hosting open houses over the next few months. We have some posted on our Eventz page, but you can also go to our Schoolz page and click on listings to see if they have something posted on their site regarding admission, tours, or open house events. To help you find the perfect camp, we've opened our Summer Campz page where you'll find an assortment of camps including art, sports, theater, horse riding, dance and more.

New Seriez and Blogz
To go along with the "new" in New Year, we've added two new seriez and written a few new blogz.

Austin Getz Active Seriez: Local mom and business owner, Lindsay Rosenthal offers insight into getting active while having family fun.

Tipz from the Babysitter: Kids' Austin area babysitter, Samantha Potts, offers advice to babysitters that may also provide peace of mind to parents when preparing to leave their little ones in the hands of another.

If you are planning a party for one of your own, you might want to check out our blog on Putt-N-Funn's Laser tag party, Hoppin' House's Inflatable celebration, or how much our little girl loved a recent birthday gift -- a day at a local spa.

FUN FINDZ

We've spotlighted a few new additions to the site that we think are particularly fun:

Baby Acapulco's on IH-35 (near Highland mall) offers kids eat free every Monday with purchase of an adult entree.

Lakeshore Learning Center offers free kids' art activites every Saturday morning.

Alamo Drafthouse - Village location creates Parents Afternoon Out every Third Saturday which includes childcare (for the cost of a $10 voucher per child) while parents watch a movie!

Abrakadoodle Opens New Action Painting Studio - Grand Opening Saturday morning, Jan 17. See our Eventz page for details on the event.

Stories From the Mom Zone - a fun blog by a local Austin mom (who happens to think KidzAustin.com is pretty cool). Be sure to check out the link to the amazing kids movie review site that she mentions - pretty cool tool.

Savings on Greenling- a 10% discount for new customers of the local business that delivers local and organic food right to your front door. This is a great way to get started on that healthier diet you've been thinking about. Find the coupon code on right hand sidebar of our Dealz page.
